Giving Tuesday! December 3, 2024
"GivingTuesday is a global generosity movement unleashing the power of radical generosity. GivingTuesday was created in 2012 as a simple idea: a day that encourages people to do good. Since then, it has grown into a year-round global movement that inspires hundreds of millions of people to give, collaborate, and celebrate generosity.
Join the movement and give, whether it’s some of your time, a donation, or the power of your voice in your local community.
It’s a simple idea: whether it’s making someone smile, helping a neighbor or stranger out, showing up for an issue or people we care about, or giving some of what we have to those who need our help, every act of generosity counts and everyone has something to contribute toward building the better world we all want to live in."National Site
Compassion Project's newest initiative is to expand our program offers to the youth in our community. In order to be able to provide our services at no to very little costs for children. Social-emotional skills, emotional regulation, stress and anxiety reduction, as well as increased focus, the sooner children have acces to mindfulness and compassion tools, the quicker they will be able to reap the benefits. They will also be able to carry those lessons with them, and it will result in exponential benefits.
Why is this so important for these programs be free of charge?
- No child get's to choose which family they are born into, so that should not impact whether or not they have access to social-emotional education that are tools in our classes/workshops offer.
- Just as the community has an obligation to provide free academic education to children, there should also be social-emotional and mindfulness education provided as well. When social-emotional education is taught simultaneously with the academic education, the acadmemic outcoemes will increase too. There will be a decrease in class-room management issues, as children will be more self-aware, but will also understand mindfulness and compassion, developing more empathy for others.
